EDEXCEL O/L EXAMINATION  - (4 MONTHS CRASH PROGRAMME)

INTRODUCTION

Royal Institute International School of Higher Education conducts academic courses of study on a full-time basis to prepare Sri Lankan as well as foreign students, among others, for Edexcel O/L and local A/L examinations.  The Institute’s Associate Company, Royal Institute of Colombo. offers courses leading to a wide range of degrees of the prestigious and internationally reputed University of London.  The Institute has produced excellent results right through.

Royal Institute with well qualified and experienced academic staff in the permanent cadre provides quality education.  There is an ideal atmosphere for studies. Three separate well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, clean and well ventilated modern classrooms are provided.

Royal Institute is an approved examination centre for Edexcel International and the University of Cambridge.

LIBRARY

The Institute has a spacious, air conditioned and well stocked library which can be used for private study and borrowing.  The library is generally kept open on all days of the week.  Students are expected to avail themselves of these facilities right through the programme.  They are particularly expected to do substantial reference work.

While sports and extra curricular activities are promoted, student discipline of the highest level is maintained.

DURATION AND TIME SCHEDULE

This crash course of 4 months duration begins during the first week of January each year. Classes are normally held from 8.00 a.m. to 2.45 p.m. on all weekdays.  However, if necessary, classes may be conducted beyond the stipulated time.  The Institute reserves the right to alter class time schedules with prior notice to students.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is primarily intended for students who have –

1. passed or sat the Local O/Level examination;

2. sat the London O/Level examination but want to repeat it to obtain better grades;

3. planned to join the London A/Level or Local A/L (English Medium) course and want to follow this as a preparatory course.

Age:- Should be below 18 years.

AVAILABLE SUBJECT

Students should offer a minimum of five subjects for this examination selected either from A or B subject combinations given below:

A.  SCIENCE

English Language/ Mathematics/ Biology/ Physics/ Chemistry.

B.  COMMERCE

English Language/ Mathematics/ Economics/ Commerce/ Accounting

FEES

Tuition per Month:

On enrolment, students should paythe Registration, Library and Laboratory fees plus Tuition fees.

Students have the following option to pay tuition fees-

1. Pay for the entire 4 months period OR

2. Pay for 2 months on enrolment and thereafter monthly before the 10th of each month. A surcharge of 5% will be levied on delayed payments.

APPLICATION FOR ENROLMENT

All applications for enrolment should be made on the relevant form (obtainable from the Institute office) together with two stamp-sized photographs and photocopies of the following documents.

i)        Birth Certificate

ii)       O/L results (where applicable)

A character certificate/leaving certificate from the Head of the previous school should be submitted along with the duly completed application form for enrolment.
