LONDON G.C.E. ADVANCED LEVEL INTRODUCTION Royal Institute International School of Higher Education was founded in 1971 with a mission to provide secondary and tertiary education to Sri Lankan as well as foreign students. It has been conducting full-time courses of study for both G.C.E. O/Level and A/Level Examinations. Over the years the Institute has expanded its role and scope beyond its original mission and among many other programmes, established the Branch School in Nugegoda to provide quality education from the Nursery upto Cambridge A/Level examinations and the Havelock Road International School at which has classes from the nursery upto London O/L and A/L. Recently established branch school in Maharagama teaches from the Nursery upto Edexcel A/L examinations and Sri Lankan A/L (English Medium) examinations. The higher education wing of Royal Institute, Royal Institute of Colombo, offers courses leading to prestigious and internationally reputed degrees of the University of London.
Royal Institute is an approved examination centre Edexcel International and University of Cambridge.
Highest quality of education is provided by the experienced panel of lecturers. The Institute also has an ideal atmosphere for studies and well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology plus Computer laboratories with modern equipment
In order to provide a balanced education, Royal Institute offers opportunities to students to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. The Institute also maintains the highest level of discipline.
LIBRARY The Institute has a large collection of all recommended text and other books, journals etc. which can be used for private study and borrowing. The Library is generally kept open on all days of the week. Students are encouraged to avail themselves of this facility right through the programme and make intensive use of the reference facility.
SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships are offered to students in order to motivate them to maintain a high level of performance and are subject to withdrawal if they fail to maintain the required standard.
Royal Institute offers a limited number of scholarships on admission, on a first come first served basis. Additionally, merit scholarships will also be awarded on impressive performance in Term end examinations. These schemes envisage the award of either 50% or 25% scholarships initially. However, if they consistently achieve ‘A’ grades in all subjects in all Term end examinations during the first year, the scholarships may be increased to 100% during the second year.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Passes in not less than 6 subjects including Maths and English in G.C.E. O/L examination with at least 3 B passes and preferably a minimum of 2 B passes to be in the offering subjects for the A/Level course. However preference will be given to students with better results when enrolling students for this course. An above average competence in English is compulsory.
Note: Enrollment is subject to an interview. Prospective students should come for the interview decently dressed and with well groomed hair. Those who do not adhere to this requirement will not be entertained.
SUBJECT COMBINATIONS AVAILABLE Students should select three subjects from any of the following subject combinations A, B or C. A combination once selected, cannot be changed subsequently
COMBINATION A (Biology Group) Chemistry, Physics, Biology. (Optional fourth subject: Applied ICT or Mathematics with Statistics).
COMBINATION B (Further Maths Group) Physics, Further Mathematics, Mathematics (Optional fourth subject: Applied ICT or Chemistry)
COMBINATION C (Commerce Group) Accounting, Business Studies, Economics (Optional fourth subject: Applied ICT or Mathematics with Statistics)
COMBINATION D (Law Group) Business Studies, Law, Economics (Optional fourth subject: Applied ICT or Mathematics with Statistics)
Note : Students who select combination A, B or C plus an optional subject, should give the assurance in writing that they would not drop the selected optional subject half way through
DURATION AND TIME SCHEDULES This is a two year full time course. Classes will be held normally from 7.55 a.m. to 1.45 p.m. on weekdays. The Institute reserves the right to change time schedules with prior notice to students.

FEES Tuition per Month:
Note: Students offering Applied ICT should pay an additional Rs. 1000/= + VAT per month.
Monthly fees should be paid before the 10th of each month. A surcharge of 5% would be levied if the payment is delayed beyond one month.
* If a student wishes to leave the Institute, notice of such leaving should be given in writing one month (30 days) prior to the date of leaving. Students who fail to do so, will forfeit the refundable deposit.
UNIFORM Students should wear the college uniform and with black shoes when attending classes. New entrants should obtain the relevant document from Secretary (Admissions) and purchase their uniforms from the school.
APPLICATION FOR ENROLMENT All applications for enrolment should be made on the relevant form (obtainable from the Institute office) together with two stamp sized photographs and photocopies of the following documents.
